Today, Kate Sensei (ALT) carved a jack-o-lantern at school. In America, we carve jack-o-lanterns on Halloween. To carve a jack-o-lantern, first cut out the top of of the pumpkin. Next, scoop out the seeds and insides of the pumpkin. Third, draw a face or design on one side of the pumpkin. (Traditional jack-o-lantern is a face with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth). Use a small knife to carve out the face. At night, you can put a candle inside the pumpkin to make it a "lantern." Next week, we will learn how to carve pumpkins together!

まず、上部を切って中から種や果肉を出し、外にマジックで顔のデザインを描いて掘ります。夜にはキャンドルをいれます。
